Red Stars

We recently had a family purchase four Red Star pullets (female chickens under one year old) and I am happy to say, they are getting settled nicely in their new home!

This particular breed of chicken is super friendly and they lay a large, wonderful deep red brown egg. We ordered them through a 4-H mom as a group and been raising them since they are chicks. I recommend this breed for first-time chicken owners; they are easy birds to care for with a relaxed temperament that can be hard to find.

  1. I am happy to find your post. We have been raising chickens for about ten years and right now our flock in very small. Due to our health problems it is not a good time to be building it back up. Theae Red Stars sound like they might be a hearty bunch for us to consider. I notice on your favorite movies you had not listed MAD CITY CHICKENS. I is such a fun movie about raising Urban chickens. No I don't work for them. LOL
